Under 12 & 13
This is a new age group and division. At this age, players are learning to play and enjoy the game at a higher, more competitive level while still focusing on skill development and team building. The program consists of a modified game, played on a smaller field with a smaller roster but with more aspects of the full-field game than in younger divisions. Players are encouraged to begin to develop their skills within their preferred positions. Games at this level are competitive, and standings are kept throughout the season until the final playoffs, in which medals are awarded. These age groups can have teams in the U12 Championship, U13 Premier and U13 Championship.
Under 15 & 17
At this age, the goal is to promote high-quality, competitive soccer. Players are now competing for playing time, while coaches are mindful of and will abide by the CSA Fair Play Codes. Sportsmanship and teamwork are integral components of the program, and the highest-quality instruction and competition are essential. Games at this level are competitive, and standings are kept throughout the season until the final playoffs, in which medals are awarded. These age groups can have teams in Premier and Championship depending on the interest shown by players for our Fall Tryouts.
Teams will be formed in the Fall and practice together the whole year. No teams will be formed in the Spring.
See below a pyramid that illustrates the levels of soccer in Newfoundland:
The NL Premier League is where the highest-level teams represent their clubs in the top league for all age groups.
The NL Championship is also a competitive league with teams that focus on preparing players who might not be fully ready for the Premier League but have shown decent strength, speed, and/or fitness qualities.
*Note that the U12 Championship is equivalent to the highest level for the U12 age group; however, it is still called the Championship. If it is beneficial for them, players who did not make that team might be placed on the next age group Championship team.
