The Metro Soccer League is designed to provide young players with the opportunity to develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game in a high-quality, competitive, and positive environment. Established to support talented and motivated players from across the Avalon Peninsula, the Metro League promotes technical development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game. Each year, over 100 youth teams participate in Metro programming.
Our club’s Metro League program includes players from Under 7 to Under 13, with athletes selected through a fall tryout process. Training pools and teams practice throughout the fall and winter, with final rosters established in the spring in preparation for summer practices, league play, and tournaments.
At these ages, the focus is on learning the fundamentals of soccer in a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment. Players are introduced to basic rules, positioning, and game flow, while being encouraged to try all positions on the field. The emphasis is on participation, skill development, confidence building, and enjoyment of the game.
The U7, U8, and U9 Metro programs are designed for young players who show an early interest and aptitude for soccer and want additional development opportunities. High-quality coaching instruction, positive reinforcement, and a love of the game are central to this stage.
